Chemical & Pharmaceutical

VOMM Turbo-Technology is applied in all process plants designed for the chemical and pharmaceutical sector: i.e. drying, granulation, reaction, concentration, crystallization, coating, thermal decomposition, etc.

The plant can operate in open or closed circuit and it is designed for the continuous processing of organic and inorganic products such as diluted or concentrated liquids, sludge, and moist solids (water or solvent basis), regardless of moisture content and viscosity.
The plant can also process inflammable solvents or quickly oxidizing products since it can be equipped with a dedicated inertization system by replacing the reactive atmosphere (oxidizing, inflammable, explosive) with an inert gas. Inert gas can be therefore recovered and recycled in the drying process after solvent condensation.

VOMM Turbo Technology is applied in the following processes in the chemical and pharmaceutical sector:

• Drying and Granulation

  The drying process is obtained with a mix of indirect heat exchange (by conduction through the walls of the equipment) and direct heat exchange (by convection between process gas and the product inside the equipment). The heating medium (steam, thermal oil or other thermal fluid) is circulated both into the external jacket of the dryer and into an heat exchanger in order to heat the process gas circulating into the plant.
  The plant is fine tuned during commissioning phase, on the basis of the physical and chemical properties of the final product in compliance with Customer’s requirements: one of the most important characteristic of VOMM plant is the possibility to adjust the residence time (it can be extended or reduced) as well as process temperature inside the equipment. VOMM dryers can continuously treat any kind of wet product (solid, liquid or paste), regardless of its rheological properties and thermal sensitivity.

• Reaction and Mixing

  VOMM turbo reactor is a continuous fluidized bed equipment combining the high turbulence in thin film with the controlled heat exchange from the jacket of the reactor to synthesize new products or mix complex components.
  Reagents are fed in continuous by high precision dosing units and the reaction is carried out under strict control of all process parameters with dedicated instruments and automatic control systems.
  
  Main reaction obtained using VOMM Turbo Technology are:
  • Salt production (phosphate, solphate, nitrates, etc…)
  • Esterification
  • Starches modification (dextrins, etc…)
  • Soaps reactions
  

• Concentration

  An innovative application of VOMM Turbo Technology is the possibility to concentrate a dilute solution, or an already concentrated solution, or even a pasty product to obtain a final product with a very high viscosity, just before coming to solid phase.
  The turbo concentrator can reach very high levels of concentration thanks to the reaction of the product in thin film in high turbulence able to reach very high heat exchange efficiency.
  VOMM solution achieves higher concentration levels than those obtained by other technologies and it is able to handle materials without any limitation of viscosity.

• Crystallization

  VOMM reactor is suitable for controlled continuous crystallization of liquid saturated solutions or anhydrous fluid products.
  The cooling fluid circulates in the external jacket of the equipment and the crystal form can be oriented according to process parameters.
